Recently a Nurse at the hospital called and was asking for ways to help an older, 'delightful' person who was going to be discharged.
Apparently this man had no heat in his home and was going to be going there to recover from surgery. How could Love INC be of helps?
We talked about the landlord needing to be responsible for the repair so heat could happen. They were already 'all over that!" ' And this did happen rather quickly. Thankful for that.
So we were able to call our linen Ministry for this person and a volunteer delivered a nice, warm comforter for this man. She went out of her way to take it to the hospital, as everyone wanted him to have it as soon as possible!
We called another church who asked for volunteers to take this new client hot meals for a few days as he was recovering. There was an immediate response and when he was home, he had nourishment. His hospital friend had then hooked him up with Meals on Wheels. This is a great organization and yet it is only one meal a day. So thankful for volunteers who help.
We called a Chaplain we know and asked him to do a drop in welfare visit the following week. He was glad to do this.
LoveINC will stay in touch with this client, a person who is also a Veteran. He needs some on going helps and company. We are looking for men who would enjoy visiting with this intelligent, delightful man. Please call us if you are available.
Good story that illustrates working together with Agencies and Health Care people, plus our volunteers who serve in our various Gap Ministries and a Chaplain who volunteers to serve when needed for our clients.
So...several people in our community gathered to help this 'stranger' in a moments notice. Pray he will know and feel the Love of Christ. This is wonderful!
