"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God and that is what we are..."
Think about that. No need to read over it quickly....the Father of the Universe calls us His children. And as the best Father of all...He LAVISHES His love on us. We are dearly loved children completely surrounded by His love.
Loved children share spontaneously and generously...knowing there is more than enough.
"If a person owns the kinds of things we need to make it in the world but refuses to share with those in need, is it even possible that God's love is in him? My little children, don't just talk about love as an idea of theory. Make it your true way of life, and LIVE IN THE PATTERN OF GRACIOUS LOVE." (1 John 3:17-18 NLT).
Looking for ways of living in this gracious pattern of love...and this week has been amazing!
God opened a way for us to speak with an important City Official about issues in our community. Looks like doors opening...felt like break through! GOD surely went ahead of us....
Another hallelujah...a former client called to express her gratefulness for 'all you helped with and how much you care" and we CELEBRATE because she now has 6 months and 3 weeks and 2 days sober! She is doing her best to move forward well. Please pray for as she continues to find healing and hope! (Gracious love over the years...and now here we are with this one).
And other doors are opening for us that we are delighted with, as they will allow us to share much truth and 'tools' for helping people help people more wisely. God, using us in His ways, because we choose to love graciously.
Live in the pattern of gracious love....these are big things. I am reminded of what we may term 'smaller' things...the way a volunteer asked us to stop and pray for a client she had with her...the way other volunteers graciously stepped in and helped file a 'ton' of files for us. Pattern of gracious love...another quickly delivered some meat to a family in need...and a bike volunteer graciously met with a disgruntled client and helped repair his bike...changing this person's attitude to one of gratitude...another one ended up with a HUGE job and chose to focus on God and what all of this would mean for others. Choosing to live in the pattern of gracious love.
Looking at our every day lives, a good question to ask is; "How am I living in the pattern of gracious love...copying my Heavenly Father who loves me so extravagantly!
Our excuse are often pitiful. "I'm tired. I want to watch a show. I think they ask for too much. I want to save what I have in case I need it..." We are children. :) But, surely we are children of a most high God. Let us pattern our love after His. Love extravagantly!
