We are all aware that our community is having many conversations about people in need of housing and about cold weather shelters for those in need.
Each and every week we speak to someone about this very real need. Real people looking for places to live. Here are some 'real life' stories that we are aware of:
A senior lady who does have a housing voucher and is seriously trying to find a place that 'fits' where she can have her own 'sanctuary.' The available offerings are slim.
A young person abandoned by their spouse suddenly and without notice, leaving unpaid bills and rent. And children.
A person with a criminal history that people say NO to. This person also has a partner and a baby . . . Is camping their only option?
A mom who traveled across the country to be closer to relatives as she is now a single parent and in need of helps and resources. She is only allowed to stay with relatives for a period of time, as per their landlord.
A young man, battling addictions, wanting help and hope. Needing accountability and care.
A middle-aged couple whose circumstances made it so they must 'begin again' are looking for peaceful housing. Both spouses are working but their income is still not quite enough.
A family with MANY children. Currently camping. Trying to find someone to rent to their large family.
These real people are in our community. Housing is a basic need. Please be praying for this issue. Please choose to be active in any way that GOD calls you to be.
