Thanks for praying...many of us pray and pray often. Prayer is foundational. And many of us find ourselves in different 'seasons' of prayer.
Sometimes we pray 'safe' prayers in that if God doesn't 'come through' for us, we can make the answer to our prayer happen. Sometimes we pray nebulously and leave outcomes to scatter where they may. Sometimes we may pray with great urgency and passion and yet, not be able to hear God through that...many ways to pray. Often my favorite are simple prayers. "Lord, have mercy." or simply..."Lord, help!"
But what if we dared to pray for more than 'we can ask or imagine?" What if we were BOLD and audacious in our prayers...knowing that the ONLY way they could be answered is in God?
Let us begin by putting courage into ourselves. En courage....
"Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your Kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength." (1 Chronicles 29:11-12, NLT).
Consider the many truths in these few words. He is everything...He imparts as He desires...
"I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray." (Psalm 17:6, NLT). He is attentive to our prayers...He moves towards us!
In our messy world today there are many heartbreaking situations, many problems. We truly are in great need.
"So let us come BOLDLY to the throne of our gracious God. There we WILL receive His mercy, and we WILL find grace to help us when we need it most." ((Hebrews 4:16).
Ready to pray boldly and audaciously? Here are some beginnings;
God, we ask that you would change our Mental Health systems. We ask that You would raise up believers to find a cure for this disease. We know you have done this in our history and we ask that you would do it again in our generation! We pray that many believers would 'step up' and make a difference in the lives of those who deal with mental illness. We ask for clarity on best ways to help!
Lord we ask that you would reform our Justice systems. We ask that real justice, hand in hand with mercy would happen. We ask for restorative justice versus punitive justice within our prisons and jail systems. We ask that HOPE and revival would happen within these places. We ask that the only labels that we 'put on' people would be from You.
God we ask for the multitudes that struggle with addictions...we ask for freedom from those and wholeness to happen, that each could live an abundant life versus a life of darkness and struggle.
Lord we ask for reconciliation for families that seem broken beyond repair. We ask for your wisdom and grace and forgiveness to happen.
We ask for "Housing First' for all...that communities would see that every human is a person of value. We ask that communities would work together well and have this happen because of Your guidance and helps.
What Bold and audacious prayer are you asking for? GOD is able! We encourage you to speak it out, pray to Him that is able to do more than we can ask or imagine! Go for it!
