Continue to love. Over the years we have gathered thousands of Love Stories. Thousands of ways people in our county have shown love to one another. And the stories continue.
This week we have worked on many things for people whom God loves. Here are their stories;
An elderly lady who is recovering from a medical procedure. And she must move. Being in her eighties this is making things difficult. The good news is she is moving to a ground floor apartment in the same building, as stairs are now too much for her. Also, she doesn't have a phone, so being in communication can be tricky. Thankfully, a volunteer from Grant Avenue Baptist went and was able to 'scope out' the situation for us. Unsurprisingly, hardly anything has been packed and there is a room that isn't really organized. Our volunteer agrees to help with packing and 'getting rid of things' in the process to organizing. We will now pursue a move team. This needs to be about 4 strong people who are willing to move furniture and boxes downstairs. Who will help this lovely lady? Please call our office if interested. Thanks!
Have been working most of the week to find ways to help a small family in need, who live on about $700.00 a month. This man and his partner are having a relative move in as she is expecting a baby. They need flooring (small place) and a toilet (their's has broken) and 2 other important items. We are communicating with an agency in our area who may help and also a business. We are determined to help, as they are asking for basic needed items to have a safe, healthy home. Please join us in praying for ways to be made. The relief in this man's voice that we would care and try to help is very clear. Perhaps there is a believer who would want to volunteer to help him as he does the work. He has not asked for that, but what a great opportunity to build relationship and speak Truth and Love.
Two women looking for work. Each does well through the' "job looking " and then are stymied when a background check is done. People with criminal records have great difficulty in finding gainful employment, even when they desperately WANT to work. Because of our FB post this week, I was able to discover some places in our area that will help. This is hopeful. It is a beginning. No guarantees, of course, but at least, places to start! Please pray for perseverance for these women...who feel frustrated and sometimes hopeless. Pray for employers to choose to give 'chances' to people who are desiring work.
Another older lady is asking for helps with moving items to her new place. She is glad to not be homeless any longer and just needs a 'team' who can bring her things from a storage unit to her new place. This could take a team of 4 or so about 2 hours. The days and times are flexible. She has some time to work with.
An "elder' from a church in our valley called, asking about a client. Their congregation is willing to help with some rent monies if we know this person and verify the need. We do know this client. Call and have a long conversation, verify some things and it all seems to 'check out well.' Naturally we can never guarantee anything, but this seems a 'good risk." We call and speak with the church again. They seem ready to help and move forward. This person will not now become homeless. God puts His people and helps everywhere!
Too many stories to share, so will end with this one. A client couple in early mid life is dealing with serious cancer. Times are hard. They are asking for some basic helps we hope to be able to answer. Once a week it would be so helpful if someone could come and vacumn, clean the kitchen and perhaps fold laundry as there is often a lot of that. They are also looking for a dishwasher. Does anyone have one to give? This dear couple are believers. AND this is a tough situation. Thanks for praying for them.
"Be sure to give to them without any hesitation. When you do this, the Lord your God will bless you in everything you work for and set out to do." (Deut 15:10, GWT).
THANKS for being a part of the Love Stories of our community! May you BE BLESSED~~
